DIY Costumes For Your Baby

Turtle Costume:

What you need:

  • Cardboard
  • Paint
  • Permanent Marker
  • Green Jumper
  • Green Leggings
  • Elastic

This costume can be made by cutting a piece of cardboard into a circle and then painting a shell design on it, this can be attached to your baby by punching holes in 4 points on the edge of the shell and tying knots in the end of the string so they don’t slip through the holes, the you can tie the strings together across your baby’s belly, make sure your baby is wearing  a green jumper for added turtley-ness.

Mermaid Costume

This costume is fully crocheted, so this is a project better off for the expert crocheters out there (which I’m not!)

Chicken Costume

This is a fun costume, and is much simpler to make than it looks!

What you need:

  • White gooded jumper
  • White feather boa
  • Yellow leggings
  • Yellow gloves
  • Orange felt
  • Red felt
  • 2 big black buttons
  • Glue gun (or a needle and thread)
Cut the orange felt into a triangle and glue it on the front of the hood of the jumper, than cut the red felt into a rooster crow and glue it onto the seam of the hood, then glue on the black buttons above the beak to make the eyes. Then wrap the feather boa around the jumper and glue it down where ever you like. Put the yellow leggings on your baby followed by the white jumper and then put the yellow gloves over your baby’s feet. Voila Chicken costume!

Sheep Costume

What you need:

  • Lots of White Pom Poms
  • White Hooded Romper
  • Black Felt, White Felt
  • Black Long Sleeve Shirt
  • Black Leggings
  • Glue Gun

Cover Your White Hooded Romper with White Pom Poms (you made need to cut the sleeves off as well), cut the black and white felt into ear shapes and glue a black ear to the white ear, then glue these onto the hood with the black part facing the front. Slip the romper on over top of black leggings and a black sleeve shirt and you have a little sheep.

Audrey Hepburn Costume

What you need:

  • A Tutu
  • Black Ribbon
  • Needle and Thread or a Glue Gun
  • Black Flats
  • Black Sunglasses
  • Tiara
  • Pearl Necklaces

Cut a couple of straps big enough for arms out of the black ribbon and sew or glue it onto the the tutu, once the tutu is on your child you can wrap some more black ribbon around her waste, add shoes, sunglasses, a bun, a tiara, statement necklace, and you have Audrey Hepburn.

Taco Costume

This one is a little bit tougher but I’d imagine it could be done with cardboard, quilt stuffing, fabric, tissue, staples, and glue.
